In 2019, the junior golf summer camp program welcomed nearly 500 children ages 5 to 14 from throughout the area.
Through the Youth on Course program, Canal Shores invites children to play for just $5 per round. In 2019, Canal Shores hosted 108 Youth on Course rounds.
In 2019, Canal Shores launched an inaugural program, offering 50 youth golf camp scholarships based on financial need. The program benefits underprivileged children ages 5-14, primarily residing in Evanston. In addition to complimentary instruction, participants were provided free transportation to and from the course.
Spurred by Evanston High School student and golf team member who recognized that minority youth and children from economically disadvantaged families rarely played golf in his community, Canal Shores launched a free summer golf program to engage these young people. In the program’s inaugural summer, 18 youth participated, most of whom had never held a golf club. Several have demonstrated interest and skills to pursue the game further.
